In 2001, the Folly Fellowship launched The Follies Journal: The International Journal for Follies, Grottoes, and Garden Buildings, published annually in November. Whereas our magazine, Follies, (published in February, May and August), focuses mainly on news, events, and short articles, the journal adopts a rather more scholarly approach, and aims to publish more substantive articles that cover all aspects of follies, grottoes, and garden buildings, including:
- historical research
- accounts of contemporary building design and construction, and restoration projects
- issues relating to preservation, conservation, restoration, and alteration
- well-reasoned opinion (even polemic)
- inspirational musings
We welcome contributions to The Follies Journal, from both new and established authors. If you have not already seen the journal, and would like to contribute an article, please contact one of the editors, who will send you a copy. We would be pleased to hear from potential authors to discuss your ideas – contact details below. Further guidance for authors are available here
